If it's a gentle amble into Saundersfoot down Pleasant Valley, through
the woods and along the breath taking coastal path, or if you are the more adventorous walker ...........
WALKERS:
Saundersfoot is an excellent walking
base in Pembrokeshire, which offers scenic costal views and traffic free sections. For an enjoyable hour or two’s walking,
why not follow the scenic multi user route from Pleasant Valley down to Saundersfoot Harbour via the old railway line. South Pembrokeshire once had a thriving coal and iron industry of which little
evidence remains today but Stepaside Ironworks and the nearby Grove Colliery have been superbly restored to afford the visitor
a glimpse into this rich heritage. Short walks take you around these two sites as well as offering splendid views of the local
landscape.
Start
your adventure from the Heritage site, following the old railway line down from Stepaside, down the multi- user path down
the wooded valley as it meanders with the river towards Wiseman’s Bridge. Here you will join the coastal path that takes
in the wonderful sea views as your path follows the waters edge towards Coppet Hall through the tunnels on to the Strand in
Saundersfoot Village.
Additionally, this walk links, via beautiful country lanes, with the Miners
Walk (long and short versions) which begin in the nearby village of Kilgetty. Several sections of these walks utilise
the multi-user path and are therefore suitable for all ages and abilities that do not involve full hiking gear! There are
plenty of pick and mix options, over the cliff tops into Amroth to take in Colby Woodland Gardens ( National Trust) or continue
from Saundersfoot into Tenby.
